Job Summary

Norfolk County Public Library is looking for a Collection Development and Technology Manager to join our team. If you’re passionate about shaping a library’s future by developing its collection and managing its technology, this is the role for you. We’re a five-Branch system dedicated to fostering learning, creativity, and connection in the beautiful, rural community of Norfolk County, Ontario.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the heart of our library’s services. Your duties will include:

  • Collection Development and Asset Management: Lead the selection, acquisition, cataloguing, and weeding of all library materials across all formats, from traditional books to digital resources. You will report to the CEO and the Library Board on new formats and industry trends to keep our collections current.
  • Technology Management: Acquire, maintain, and troubleshoot all of the library’s technology, including public and staff access computers, hardware, software, and the library automation system. You’ll be the go-to person for all technology-related issues and innovation.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage and monitor the budgets for both the library’s collection development and technology, ensuring responsible use of funds.
  • Staff Leadership: Supervise, train, and manage staff within area of responsibility. You’ll also create and implement policies and procedures to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Interlibrary Loans and Website Management: Oversee interlibrary loan services and manage all website activity, including online resources.
  • Community Connection: Collaborate with the Manager of Facilities and Operations, with vendors and Norfolk County municipal staff, ensuring our services meet the needs of our diverse communities.
     

Who We’re Looking For

You’re a great fit for this role if you have:

  • A Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science with at least five years of managerial experience in a public library, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of public library principles, literature, and technology.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with budget management and preparing comprehensive reports for administrative purposes.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Compensation: $45.357 – $56.697 per hour
