Position: Adult Services Librarian
Status: Full Time (Level XI)
Salary Range: $71,966.59-$86,738.70 annually
Home Location: Sherwood Branch
Hours of Work: 70 hours over a two-week period<\/p>\n

Position Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Adult Services Librarian<\/strong> is responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of community outreach, engagement activities and programs with a focus on adults. The Adult Services Librarian has a strong emphasis on building and maintaining community partnerships with a wide range of groups within their portfolio. The Adult Services Librarian participates in ensuring a balanced, current and relevant collection of library materials, as assigned, and delivers public services such as reference and readers advisory. The Adult Services Librarian also acts in an \u201cIn-Charge\u201d capacity.<\/p>\n

Typical Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022Responsible for the oversight, coordination and delivery of programs and services with a focus on adults
\u2022Identifies and coordinate community outreach and engagement opportunities with a focus on adults
\u2022Actively seeks and develops community partnerships. Works collaboratively with different agencies, departments, locations and teams to ensure quality Adult based programs that meet our customers\u2019 needs
\u2022Demonstrates customer service excellence in the delivery of in-depth reference and readers\u2019 advisory services and the effective merchandising of collections, including development of new merchandising initiatives
\u2022Participates in the collection development for an assigned area of Milton Public Libraries collection. This includes selection and evaluation to ensure MPL\u2019s collections meet the needs of its increasingly diverse community
\u2022Supports MPL\u2019s virtual presence, identifying marketing outreach and other opportunities
\u2022Participates in committee work and contributes to the planning of Public Service
\u2022Contributes to the development of service goals and policy development
\u2022Provides input into the Collection Management Policy
\u2022Acts in an \u201cIn-Charge\u201d capacity as required
\u2022Attends relevant meetings, workshops, courses and conferences as required
\u2022Performs other duties as assigned<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022Master of Library Science (MLIS) from an accredited program
\u2022One year of relevant librarian experience
\u2022Experience in community outreach and engagement
\u2022Experience with library materials selection
\u2022Demonstrated experience in program development
\u2022Knowledgeable with new and emerging technologies
\u2022Experience in an automated environment and with computer skills
\u2022Strong customer service background
\u2022Excellent oral and written communications skills
\u2022Valid G class driver\u2019s license and access to a reliable vehicle
\u2022Ability to work independently and in team environment<\/p>\n

Work Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022Unionized position as part of CUPE Local 4366
\u2022Ability to bend and reach upper and lower shelves and lift items up to 10kg
\u2022Works in a fast-paced environment
\u2022Works at any MPL location
\u2022Works as per the assigned schedule, including evenings and weekends as per the provisions within the Collective Agreement<\/p>\n

Compensation:\u00a0 $71,966.59 \u2013 86,738.70<\/p>\n
