This role focuses on providing high-quality reference support, assisting clients with legal information requests, and supporting access to digital tools and resources.<br \/>Working closely with colleagues across locations, the Librarian supports clients in-person, by phone, and online. The role requires strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and the ability to manage a high volume of complex inquiries. The Librarian also contributes to service improvements by sharing insights from frontline work and supporting consistent service delivery across the organization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Success at CLBC depends on how we work together. The Librarian brings a thoughtful and analytical approach to supporting clients and works collaboratively with colleagues to deliver consistent and effective service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You\u2019ll Be Doing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Provide front-line legal information and reference services to clients<br \/>\u2022 Conduct reference interviews and clarify client needs effectively<br \/>\u2022 Support clients in using legal information tools, databases, and online resources<br \/>\u2022 Respond to inquiries in-person, by phone, and through provincewide services (e.g., email)<br \/>\u2022 Manage a high volume of requests while maintaining quality and responsiveness<br \/>\u2022 Escalate or refer complex inquiries appropriately<br \/>\u2022 Contribute to digital content and support continuous improvement of tools and services<br \/>\u2022 Share insights from client interactions to support service and collection improvements<br \/>\u2022 Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent provincewide service delivery<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Success Looks Like<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Clients receive accurate, timely, and accessible legal information<br \/>\u2022 Reference services are consistent, responsive, and aligned with CLBC standards<br \/>\u2022 Clients are supported in effectively using collection resources and digital tools<br \/>\u2022 Complex inquiries are handled appropriately and escalated when needed<br \/>\u2022 Service delivery remains reliable during high-demand periods<br \/>\u2022 Insights from frontline work contribute to service improvements<br \/>\u2022 Collaboration supports consistency across locations and services<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You\u2019ll Bring (or Need)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) or equivalent<br \/>\u2022 Strong customer service experience<br \/>\u2022 Ability to conduct effective reference interviews and explain tools clearly<br \/>\u2022 Technical proficiency with common digital tools and platforms<br \/>\u2022 Capacity to lift up to 30 lbs as required<br \/>\u2022 Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills<br \/>\u2022 Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment<br \/>\u2022 Sound judgment, reliability, and professionalism<br \/>\u2022 Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently<br \/>\u2022 Approachable and collaborative approach to supporting colleagues and clients<\/p>\n<p><strong>We will begin assessing applications on September 22, 2026.<\/strong> The posting will remain open until the position is filled.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates selected to continue in the process will be required to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take part in an interview (in-person, via video, or by phone)<\/li>\n<li>Undergo reference checks and a criminal records check<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Courthouse Libraries BC is committed to building a skilled, diverse workforce reflective of Canadian Society, working together in an environment of equity, inclusion and respect.
