Our mission is simple: to create engaging content, connect with audiences wherever they are, and drive meaningful growth. <br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Guided by our values\u2014Think Boldly, Make a Positive Impact, Win as a Team, and Own the Outcome\u2014we bring creativity and collaboration to everything we do.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>If you\u2019re ready to make an impact, there\u2019s a place for you at Corus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Division:<\/strong> Global Calgary TV &#8211; News Gathering<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work Status:<\/strong> Full-Time<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong> Calgary, AB (On-site)<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Role:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Global Calgary&#8217;s News Department is currently seeking a permanent full-time Digital Journalist to join their team.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the Managing Editor, the successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, and evenings along with permanent weekends in a role that includes producing, editing, reporting, shooting video and writing content for online and television.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is a Group H position in accordance with the current collective agreement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You will contribute by:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions, but does not outline all the duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to this position:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Write news content for a variety of newscasts.<\/li>\n<li>Line up a compelling and dynamic show each day, creating the best content for both live and server-based newscasts.<\/li>\n<li>Produce local news content from video gathered in the field along with affiliate, national and international content.<\/li>\n<li>Display creativity in the use of production graphics and other visual elements.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate breaking news and coordinate with local radio newsroom, resources desk, national news desk, online and Edmonton newsroom.<\/li>\n<li>Control room experience is an asset with preference given to candidates with two years or more.<\/li>\n<li>Research and develop original and enterprising stories and guest ideas.<\/li>\n<li>Report, shoot, write and edit stories for multiple daily newscasts and for globalnews.ca.<\/li>\n<li>Meet multiple daily deadlines to write, post, promote, update and curate local, regional, and national content on globalnews.ca.<\/li>\n<li>Report on location and in studio as required.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in assignment meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Be a strong advocate, model and mentor for digital journalism and a video-first workflow.<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with staff based in Lethbridge and Edmonton.<\/li>\n<li>Participating in Global Calgary promotional and community initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and experience you will bring:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree\/diploma in journalism from a recognized post-secondary institution.<\/li>\n<li>At least two years\u2019 experience as a television news producer and\/or editor and demonstrated understanding of innovative production techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum one years of reporting experience with proven on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted material.<\/li>\n<li>Experience as an anchor in a major market is considered an asset.<\/li>\n<li>Proven shooting and editing experience are required.<\/li>\n<li>Adept writer for broadcast and online with great online and traditional story research skills<\/li>\n<li>An innovator with confidence in making editorial decisions.<\/li>\n<li>This position requires someone who is comfortable working both independently and cooperatively in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with Canadian Press Style and experience publishing in WordPress are assets.<\/li>\n<li>Willing and able to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows.<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver&#8217;s license with a clear driver\u2019s abstract.<\/li>\n<li>Organized and able to make quick and effective decisions under pressure.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Every day, we work hard to become an even more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace that supports the well-being of our people and makes a positive difference in our communities.
