THE POSITION:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Librarian 1 is responsible for the planning, supervision, organization and delivery of exceptional customer services. Plans, oversees and delivers library programs and events within the library, community, and virtually. This position is responsible for supervision and administrative duties.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Demonstrated proficiency in leading a team in providing exceptional customer service.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Demonstrated ability and skill to oversee and deliver a variety of creative programs: including the Playground, to all ages and abilities. This can be done both in-library and virtually.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Adapts and embraces new methods of delivering programs and services based on customer needs.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in readers\u2019 advisory, reference search strategy\/interview techniques and programming.<\/p>\n

\u2022 In depth understanding of automated library systems and an ability to demonstrate a proficiency in the use of a variety of technologies.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Demonstrated proficiency and interest in using a variety of related digital devices.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Knowledge of public library resources and services.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ability to carry out job functions with flexibility, creativity and initiative.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Strong organizational skills.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft office<\/p>\n

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school or equivalent library degree.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Introductory supervisory training from a recognized institution, or equivalent. This is in addition\u00a0to courses taken as part of a diploma\/degree requirement.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Up to six months work related and on the job experience.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Valid B.C. Driver’s Licence (minimum level \u2018N\u2019).<\/p>\n
