{"id":7009,"date":"2026-06-16T13:42:04","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T17:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobweb.fims.uwo.ca\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=7009"},"modified":"2026-06-16T13:43:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T17:43:30","slug":"annapolis-valley-regional-library-berwick-ns-16-regional-branch-manager","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobweb.fims.uwo.ca\/index.php\/job\/annapolis-valley-regional-library-berwick-ns-16-regional-branch-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Regional Branch Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Job Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Position:<\/strong> Regional Branch Manager<br \/><strong>Location:<\/strong> AVRL Administration Office- Berwick<br \/><strong>Status:<\/strong> Permanent full time (non-bargaining unit)<br \/><strong>Salary range:<\/strong> $76,076 &#8211; $83,720 annually (2026-27 Salary Band 10)<br \/><strong>Hours of work:<\/strong> Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm<br \/><strong>Hours per pay period:<\/strong> 70 hours<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUMMARY OF JOB<\/strong><br \/>Under the supervision of the CEO, the Regional Branch Manager will be responsible for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overseeing all AVRL branches;<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating the day-to-day operations of branch libraries;<\/li>\n<li>Developing and recommending service standards and public use policies;<\/li>\n<li>Directly supervising branch supervisors; and<\/li>\n<li>Liaising with municipalities and library branches to coordinate facilities repairs and improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>DUTIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Supervision and Management<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Trains, directs, and supervises the branch managers; assists in hiring branch staff.<br \/>\u25cf Administers or makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting direct reports including orientation, training, setting performance goals, assigning and reviewing work, approving timecards, approving leave.<br \/>\u25cf Provides technical guidance and support to ensure conformity with established policies, rules and regulations.<br \/>\u25cf Anticipates and solves problems as non-routine situations arise.<br \/>\u25cf Promotes professional development and leadership skills among direct reports and teams.<br \/>\u25cf In collaboration with the AVRL Senior Managers, provides leadership towards the Library&#8217;s mission and strategic plans.<br \/>\u25cf Provides assistance with branch facility issues; supports branch managers with facility needs. Oversees compliance with and implementation of Accessibility initiatives.<br \/>\u25cf In tandem with the senior management team, facilitate and supervise branch projects such as renovations, moving, and new construction.<\/p>\n<p><em>Performance Management<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Develops guidelines and training for supervisors.<br \/>\u25cf Ensures that employee performance issues are handled appropriately and consistently.<br \/>\u25cf Coaches supervisors on development and delivery of corrective action plans; forwards issues to AVRL management as needed.<br \/>\u25cf Oversees and implements performance management program for AVRL<br \/>\u25cf Ensures completion of annual performance evaluations for all AVRL employees in the bargaining unit.<\/p>\n<p><em>Staff Training<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Plans, organizes, and delivers training in customer service and public library services to all community services staff<br \/>\u25cf Evaluates and updates staff competencies as necessary<br \/>\u25cf Revises employee training plans on an annual basis<br \/>Human Resource Management<br \/>\u25cf Ensures AVRL human resource policies are observed for branch staff<br \/>\u25cf In coordination with HR Manager, interviews, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff<\/p>\n<p><em>Other<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Works as part of the Administration team to plan and implement strategic plan initiatives, partnerships, and other organizational changes<br \/>\u25cf Ensures standard operations services for all AVRL service points<br \/>\u25cf Builds relationships with and cooperates with municipal officials in the maintenance and improvement of municipal library facilities.<br \/>\u25cf Coordinates accessibility standards for all library service points<br \/>\u25cf Identifies and recommends site improvements for those with special needs<br \/>\u25cf Other duties as required<\/p>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Master of Library and Information Science, or Bachelors in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At least 5 years of work experience in libraries or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience, ideally in a unionized environment.
