The target start date is the beginning of August.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the <strong>Assistant Director<\/strong> has primary responsibility for the development and coordination of region-wide programs, services, and promotions. They support rural staff in Palliser Regional Library\u2019s 19 rural branches and are responsible for rural staff training, professional development, and evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>The Assistant Director works closely with the Executive Director and serves as a member of the Palliser Management Team. This position requires some regular travel around the region and may involve working occasional evenings and weekends.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Administrative Support<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assists the Director in developing and implementing policies, long-range strategic planning, and operational procedures<\/li>\n<li>Prepares and manages budgets within areas of responsibility<\/li>\n<li>Area Resource Centre and Local Branch programming, materials, and training budgets<\/li>\n<li>Supports grant applications and reporting requirements<\/li>\n<li>Serves on the Palliser management team and contributes to region-wide initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Training Rural Branch Staff<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trains new staff and ensures continuous development for existing staff in the areas of program development &amp; evaluation, community engagement, and digital technologies (website, online databases, Libby, Hoopla, and SILS apps, Canva, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Organizes the semi-annual Branch Staff Workshop<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Programming &amp; Outreach<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversees planning, implementation, and evaluation of region-wide programming for all ages<\/li>\n<li>Leads community outreach initiatives and cultivates partnerships with organizations, agencies, and local groups<\/li>\n<li>Promotes library services through community presence and outreach activities<\/li>\n<li>Creates and distributes region-wide promotional and informational materials such as Hot New Releases, Literacy Activity Calendars, and informational brochures<\/li>\n<li>Promotes library services through Palliser\u2019s social media pages, manages the Palliser website, and selects merch and promotional items<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Collection Development &amp; Management<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Selects new books from the Holds Alert List<\/li>\n<li>Manages ARPs for ULS and Overdrive and reviews carts<\/li>\n<li>Evaluates donations sent by branches to HQ for processing<\/li>\n<li>Reviews damaged items for repurchase<\/li>\n<li>Sends weeding lists to the branches<\/li>\n<li>Reviews HQ floating items for weeding or redistribution<\/li>\n<li>Reviews Stranded Holds list for branches<\/li>\n<li>Selects new lendable kits, including book club kits and programming kits<\/li>\n<li>Manages headquarters kit lending policies and procedures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Staff Leadership<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supervises Rural Branch Librarians, including administration of the Collective Agreement in area of responsibility<\/li>\n<li>Provides coaching, mentorship, performance evaluation, and professional development<\/li>\n<li>Fosters a positive, team-oriented, customer-focused workplace culture<\/li>\n<li>Fosters accuracy, accountability, and service excellence within the team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A degree in Library and Information Science, or another related field.<\/li>\n<li>Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 license and clean driving record.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge &amp; Abilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to adjust priorities, take initiative, set goals, manage time wisely, and make quick effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team member in a dynamic environment and on a variety of simultaneous projects.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of social media platforms and web-based communication, information and collaboration tools with at least one to two years of experience in public relations, communications, or digital services.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to mentor staff, lead teams, and encourage creativity across a multi-branch system.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other Benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vacation: Four weeks of vacation<\/li>\n<li>Sick Leave: 21 paid sick days per year<\/li>\n<li>Pension and other benefits<\/li>\n<li>Flexible Work Arrangements: Variety of options to adjust working hours including flex time, part-time work from home or four-day work weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hours of Work:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-Time (36.5 hours\/week) Monday to Friday; some evening &amp; weekend work is occasionally required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Work Location:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Palliser Regional Library Headquarters<\/p>\n<p>366 Coteau St. W<\/p>\n<p>Moose Jaw SK S6H 5C9<\/p>\n<p>The Palliser Regional Library is headquartered in the city of Moose Jaw and serves 20 branches in 74 municipalities in south central Saskatchewan.
