Acadia University and the Vaughan Memorial Library acknowledge that we are in Mi\u2019kma\u2019ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi\u2019kmaw Nation. This land is governed by the treaties of Peace and Friendship, first signed by the Mi\u2019kmaq, Wolastoqey, Peskotomuhkatiyik, and the British Crown in 1726. These treaties did not implicate or affirm the surrender or transfer of land to the British, but recognized Mi\u2019kmaq and Wolastoqey title and set the rules for what was to be a long-standing relationship between nations. About the Position<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Vaughan Memorial Library invites applications from candidates for a full-time probationary\/continuing appointment at the rank of Librarian I, II, or III commencing on July 1st, 2026. As part of our strategic priority to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, this is a focused hire for a Black or Indigenous librarian.<\/p>\n

As a member of Research Services at the Vaughan Memorial Library, the successful candidate will take on liaison responsibilities for one or more academic departments. Liaison workloads are reviewed and assigned annually in consultation with members of Research Services. The anticipated starting portfolio includes liaison responsibility for the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program and the Women\u2019s and Gender Studies Program, though subject assignments may evolve over time in response to the library\u2019s needs and the candidate\u2019s experience and interests.<\/p>\n

Liaison duties include but are not limited to: developing and delivering information literacy sessions; providing one-on-one research consultations for students and faculty in liaison departments; collections development and management in liaison subject areas; maintaining online research guides for liaison subject areas; communicating and collaborating with faculty and students in liaison departments.<\/p>\n

In addition to liaison responsibilities, librarians at the Vaughan Memorial Library are each assigned a coordinating responsibility. Coordinating responsibilities are specialized areas of work that reflect the priorities and functions of the library and are reviewed on an ongoing basis.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in scholarly and professional activity, which may include academic or community-based research and publication, and participation in academic and professional conferences. The candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation and\/or indigenization in their work, and the interest and willingness to participate in service and administrative activities within the department, the university, and externally.<\/p>\n

Salary Range<\/strong><\/p>\n

Librarian I: $72,359 – $91,959
\nLibrarian II: $83,559 – $101,159
\nLibrarian III: $100,359 – $125,559<\/p>\n

Salary will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.<\/p>\n

The Vaughan Memorial Library is committed to providing the highest standards of programs, services, and vital resources necessary to support learning, teaching, research, and scholarly communication. Every Department and School at Acadia has its own liaison librarian who provides instructional services, informs departments\/schools about research tools and strategies within their specific disciplines, and develops and maintains library collections to support teaching and research. Our liaison librarians and archivists are instrumental in supporting study, research, critical inquiry, academic honesty, and a lifelong love of independent learning. Librarians and archivists are also academics in their own right and are engaged in research, scholarship, and critical inquiry.<\/p>\n
