Stauffer Library. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, with an anticipated rank of General or Assistant Librarian.\u00a0 Salary range is $75,000-$100,000 with preferred start date of summer 2026.\u00a0 This posting is to fill an existing vacancy within the University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Required:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An ALA accredited MLS\/MLIS degree or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of two to three years of subject liaison librarian experience in an academic library<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated knowledge of business information resources<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of information literacy instruction, both in-person and online<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience in the provision of reference services<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of the use of one of more research tools and methodologies appropriate for scholarly research such as citation management, knowledge or evidence synthesis, or data analysis<\/li>\n<li>Effective\u00a0oral and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Collegiality, strong service commitment and\u00a0the\u00a0ability\u00a0to\u00a0work effectively in\u00a0both a team-based and a self-directed\u00a0environment<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships<\/li>\n<li>Ability to balance priorities and adapt in a changing work environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preferred:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience as a liaison librarian in business, economics or related discipline in an academic setting<\/li>\n<li>Collection development experience, including electronic resource evaluation, monograph selection, and deselection<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience with incorporating AI literacy into teaching practice<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with instructional design and education technology tools<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience creating\u00a0online\u00a0learning objects (tutorials,\u00a0videos,\u00a0guides, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of potential for professional contributions and ongoing professional development<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated commitment to I-EDIAA and\/or experience serving diverse populations of users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The library supports Queen\u2019s University in its vision to integrate focused research excellence, transformative teaching, and an unparalleled student experience within a community defined by personal scale, deep connection, and global engagement. This distinctive culture empowers our students, scholars, and partners to advance knowledge, cultivate leadership, and develop solutions to the complex challenges facing Canada and the world.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the Head Humanities, Business and Social Sciences Librarian, and working as part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team, the Research and Instruction librarian for Business and Social Sciences serves as the library\u2019s primary liaison to the Smith School of Business and related social science departments. Supporting faculty, staff and students, the Research and Instruction Librarian provides reference, research and instructional services, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>developing, delivering and evaluating curriculum-integrated information literacy and general instruction programs;<\/li>\n<li>designing and delivering reference, instruction and promotional materials, including web pages, online tutorials and research guides;<\/li>\n<li>taking on collection development and print stewardship activities in assigned subject areas;<\/li>\n<li>conducting research consultations with users;<\/li>\n<li>developing and cultivating relationships with liaison departments and library units.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Working with colleagues across the library system, the librarian consults, collaborates and shares a commitment to professional delivery of services while actively working to achieve the library\u2019s goals and objectives. Queen\u2019s is an integral part of the Kingston community, with the campus nestled in the core of the city, only a 10-minute walk to downtown.
