Accountability: This position is accountable to the Library Director

Overtime Status: This position is a management position and thus exempt from provincial overtime legislative requirements.

The Program Manager oversees programming for all 45 Wheatland Regional Library branches ensuring a high level of programming across the region. This position is a senior management position answering to and working closely with the Library Director/CEO or designate Travel within the region is required. Evening and weekend work is expected.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Library Director/CEO

  • Lead the development and execution of strategies and plans for region-wide programming based on the region’s strategic plan.
  • Evaluate regional goals and adjust programming strategies to meet the goals.
  • Compile statistics and indicators on programming initiatives.
  • Coordinate library programs and events including Saskatchewan Library Week, Canadian Children’s Book Week, Summer Reading Club, Saskatchewan Indigenous Storytelling Month, and author tours.
  • Coordinate multi-branch programming and community services events and activities.
  • Interact/build relationships with community-based organizations such as literacy groups, community groups, and other service groups.
  • Commitment to deliver consistent programming services to a diverse population.
  • STEAM/STEM programming for children and teens including creation of circulating kits.
  • Develop and recommend to the Library Director an annual budget for programming services.
  • Provide leadership to, communicate with, and support the branches in all aspects of programming.
  • Provides and coordinates ongoing branch training in all aspects of programming.
  • Provide back up to the Branch Manager when required.

Qualifications, knowledge, and skills:

  • Post graduate university degree in library or information science from an accredited institution or a post-secondary degree with equivalent experience.
  • Previous programming experience including planning, developing and delivering programs.
  • Ability to program for patrons of all ages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a diverse group of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively in a collaborative decision-making process
  • Strong project management and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation, and research skills.
  • Demonstrate experience delivering goals that support the strategic priorities of an organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to sustain cooperative, productive relationships with staff and patrons.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive throughout the region as required.
  • Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the employer will be required.

Remuneration:

Salary: $52,555-$60,640
