As a Data Governance Analyst, you will be a member of this campus-wide team and, as such, epitomize the department’s shared values of respect, empowerment, integrity, appreciation, and forward focus.

Reporting to the Associate Director – Advancement Systems and Analysis, you will lead AA&D’s data governance efforts, with a specific focus on developing streamlined processes to develop data pipelines across diverse sources, including our CRM system. You will drive the development, implementation, and leadership of data governance strategies, policies, and procedures, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of our departmental data. Applying best practices, you will lead a data governance committee, collaborating across teams, and spearheading the prioritization, creation and enforcement of data import best practices. More specifically, as part of your key responsibilities, you will:

·       Chair and direct the AA&D data governance committee, orchestrating collaboration among stakeholders to define data import objectives, priorities, and performance indicators.

·       Lead the design and implementation of robust data import processes, ensuring seamless data flow across various sources.

·       Collaborate with key partners to establish and document data governance rules, standards, guidelines, and workflows for data import processes.

·       Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries, data lineage, metadata management, and data quality benchmarks.

·       Conduct comprehensive data profiling and analysis to detect intricate data quality issues, proposing effective remedies for data import enhancement.

·       Establish, communicate, and enforce roles and responsibilities for data import governance, and institute training and awareness programs to foster organizational alignment.

·       Regularly audit and assess data import processes for compliance, generating insightful reports for senior management to evaluate the efficacy and status of initiatives.

·       Develop and track key metrics that gauge the success of data governance, consistently identifying areas for refinement and advancement.

·       Stay attuned to industry trends, regulations, and best practices in data governance and management, integrating newfound insights into data import strategies.

·       Work closely within the Advancement Systems and Analysis team to guarantee harmonious alignment between data governance endeavours and technical implementations.

REQUIREMENTS

To assume the role of Data Governance Analyst, you must effectively balance your business and technical expertise with a commitment to data integrity and compliance, and have a profile that includes:

·       A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information management, or a related field; a master’s degree is advantageous.

·       3 years of relevant experience, including 1 year of experience on the job.

·       Understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and data lifecycle management.

·       Familiarity with pertinent industry standards and regulations, such as Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

·       Expertise in data governance frameworks and methodologies, especially concerning the development of data import procedures.

·       Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, including capability of addressing multifaceted data import challenges.

·       Outstanding communication and collaboration acumen, along with the ability to influentially lead cross-functional teams.

·       Exemplary attention to detail and an unwavering dedication to data integrity and compliance, particularly during data import.

·       Flexibility and adaptability to thrive within a dynamic, fast-paced landscape.

·       Balanced business and technical background.

·       Experience leading teams in absence of authority.

·       Ability to balance the competing demands of multiple projects and operational requirements.

·       Ability to work individually and as an integral member of a high-performance team.

The following skills and experiences will set you apart as a candidate for this role:

·       Demonstrated leadership proficiency in data governance, data management, or similar domains.

·       Experience with donor-focused database management best practices.

·       Experience in data profiling, analysis, and data visualization tools to drive effective data import processes.

·       Additional Data Governance or data management certifications (e.g., CDMP).
