Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the School of Information Technology Management in the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor effective July 1, 2023 subject to final budgetary approval. 

The successful candidate will engage in a combination of teaching, scholarly research or creative activity and service duties while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities. Teaching duties will entail teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, supervision of students and curriculum development. The successful candidate will pursue a strong, innovative research program or creative activity that is externally funded and that produces cutting-edge, high quality results.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Information Systems or a closely related field by the appointment date. Candidates who are all-but-dissertation (ABD) and are very close to completion in Information Systems or a closely related field may also be considered. Relevant industry experience is an asset.

In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of: 

  • demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and course development at the undergraduate and graduate level; including the ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following technical areas: health informatics, e-health, healthcare policy, management in community care, health information systems, telecare and telehealth, evaluation and use of healthcare IT, health data privacy and security;
  • a strong research profile with evidence of peer reviewed publications/contributions in journals relevant to their expertise; priority research areas include: health informatics, electronic/personal medical/health records, digital transformation in healthcare, privacy and security, data science and data analytics, information system’s governance, including responsible AI/ ethics/responsible data science, trust and safety;
  • the ability to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program;
  • research collaborations or strong potential/ability to attract industrial and community collaborative initiatives;
    the capacity for effective research training;
  • commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population; and 
  • an ability and willingness to contribute to the life of the school and the University through collegial service.
