Job Summary

The Petawawa Public Library is seeking a dynamic, visionary leader to perform the duties and responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) within one of the fastest-growing towns in Ontario.

The CEO is responsible for providing long-range planning and leadership required for the development and management of public library services in accordance with the Public Libraries Act and the policies and objectives approved by the Petawawa Public Library Board. The CEO manages and supervises all library operations and services, implementing the Library Board’s Strategic Plan.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in library and information science (or equivalent) from an accredited program
  • Experience with strategic planning
  • Demonstration of effective administrative, financial and human resources management
  • Experience working directly with a volunteer board and public officials
  • Experience working in and/or overseeing a unionized work environment
  • Knowledge of the governance of public libraries and legislation in Ontario and the roles and responsibilities of municipalities, library boards, and provincial ministries
  • Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of a library board, the CEO, staff, Town Council and Town Departments
  • Demonstration of effective communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstration of organizational and digital literary skills

Compensation
$89,880.70 – $105,742.00 annually
