Partnership: The Canadian Journal of Library & Information Practice & Research

Partnership is accepting applications for 1 Theory and Research Section Editor position.

This is a volunteer position for a 2-year term (renewable).

Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief and working in a collegial atmosphere with an editorial team, this is an unpaid position on one of Canada’s leading open access journals serving the library profession.

This section invites substantive research articles of empirical studies or philosophies, policies or trends in all types of library and information environments. Research articles can be either quantitative or qualitative in nature. Empirical models (evidence-based or experimental techniques) and exploratory models of investigation are welcome. Articles are typically 3,000 to 7,000 words in length and will be subject to a double-anonymized peer review process.

Duties

  • Solicit manuscripts on topics of interest to the LIS profession including pursuing content from all sectors of librarianship
  • Manages submissions to the Theory and Research section of the journal, including evaluating submissions, making publishing decisions, managing double-anonymous peer review and communicating with authors, copy and layout editors to ensure the smooth handling of each submission.
  • Provide editorial guidance on submissions including assessing submission for readability, interest, and writing style.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with authors and readers
  • Promote the journal as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in library and information studies
  • Ability to network and develop contacts in the LIS community
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous publishing and/or editorial experience is preferred

Partnership is the journal of Canada’s national network of provincial and territorial library associations. The journal promotes the exchange of ideas about libraries, librarianship, and information science among practitioners across all library sectors. This is a Canadian, open access journal publishing double-anonymized peer-reviewed research and editorially reviewed articles and opinion pieces.

Compensation:  This is a volunteer position
