Position: Communication and Partner Relations Specialist

Start date: As soon as possible

Location: London, Ontario

Salary: 19.37/hour

Duration: One-year, Part time Contract (20 hrs/week)

Responsible To: Director of Development

Position Summary:

L’Arche London is a thriving community serving the needs of adults with intellectual disabilities. A 25 year history speaks to the long term success and stability of the community. L’Arche provides a unique program of support and community building that fosters inclusion, understanding and belonging. L’Arche London has three homes and day program setting located in London where assistants and volunteers from diverse cultures and backgrounds share deeply committed relationships with people with intellectual disabilities.

The Communication and Partner Relations Specialist will communicate the core values and unique stories of L’Arche, and market and promote the programs and services of L’Arche London. They must be able to communicate the transformational experience of those fully engaged in the L’Arche community, as well as the experience of our wide circle of friends and supporters. The candidate will promote the special facets and features of this community, its history, its future and the role it plays both locally and nationally, as well as internationally.

The Communication and Partner Relations Specialist will work in cooperation with the Director of Development, the Communications Committee and the Steering Committee to meet the objectives of L’Arche London. This role is made possible by a one-year Ontario Trillium Foundation Resilience Grant.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop a Communication Plan that encompasses all aspects of the organization. The overall goal of the Communication Plan is to generate revenue for our Gathering Place by reaching new programming participants, partners and donors. .

  • Implement the communication strategy that includes outreach and social media content creation.
  • Work with the Communications committee and Steering committee to brainstorm content ideas for social media, fundraising material and revise rental package of the Gathering Place, all with the direct purpose of growing our revenue streams and increasing our donor participation.
  • Update and reformat our existing website to reflect our mission, history, programming, accessibility points, and storytelling about our community life. Ensure our donors are aware of all upcoming events and ways to donate online.
  • Seek to build new and existing relationships with community partners in order to generate additional revenue for our Gathering Place. Help to create marketing materials to reach out to local partners such as schools, associations and other agencies to help increase our day programming participation. This includes developing a functional communication plan for rental of our facilities to generate revenue.
  • Adhere to the organizations brand style guide, ensuring we produce quality and error free copy.
  • Be accountable for strict adherence to confidentiality and existing L’Arche London Policies and Procedures.
  • Engage in other duties as assigned

Skills and Aptitudes:

  • Diploma or degree in Communications from a College or University
  • Keen interest in driving strategic messaging
  • Proven social media and networking experience
  • Strategic and creative mindset
  • Attention to detail
  • A portfolio of work available for review
  • Knowledge of website design. WordPress experience an asset
    Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to self-direct, prioritize, and work independently
  • Excellent proficiency in social media applications
  • Access to stable internet connections and a home workspace
  • Proof of Vaccination for Covid 19
