King Township Public Library (KTPL) serves a vibrant community of 27,000 residents through our multi-branch system. Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager of Engagement & Connections, the Program Supervisor is responsible for the development and supervision of programming system-wide. Tailored to the needs of the growing, diverse Township of King, the Program Supervisor will ensure an emphasis on literacy and STEAM based programming that adheres to the strategic direction set forth by the Library Board. This position will also have a role in public service, including support and oversight duties, e.g. circulation and information services. While implementing special projects, on occasion, the Program Supervisor may report to other senior managers.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Library and Information Technician program or related discipline
  • 3 years’ experience in a public library environment; supervisory experience an asset
  • Understands the basic principles of community programming and how they apply to library services of the non-profit/public sector
  • Proven ability to curate creative, literacy-based and highly imaginative programs for all ages, including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics)
    Critical thinking and analytical skills required to support the needs of the library’s strategic goals
  • Works as a team player, contributing to the overall success of the library and exhibits a learning and growth mindset
  • Demonstrated proficiency in customer service
  • Reliable means of transportation is required, including the ability to travel between branches during one’s shift. Proof of a valid Ontario’s Driver’s license and current insurance is required
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, at ALL branches within the library system
  • Successful candidate will be required to produce a current Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Fluent in English with excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to lift 30 pounds, bend, reach, and stretch
     

Hours of Work: 35 hours a week, including evenings and weekends

Salary Range: $33.99 per hour
