The Office of the Chief Science Advisor of Canada (OCSA) is looking for a communications advisor (IS-04) for a deployment. The responsibilities include coordinating events and planning and drafting a variety of digital communications products (social media content, web content, infographics). You have a strong interest in science communication as well as experience in developing communication products, providing communications advice, and planning public events involving senior officials.

Duties

As Strategic Communications Advisor, you will be responsible for:

– Planning and coordinating public events involving senior officials and multiple stakeholders.

– Developing and implement communication products or services.

– Providing communications advice and formulate recommendations to management on communications issues.

– Writing and revising speeches and communications products such as media advisories, news releases, media lines, video scripts, social media and or web content.

– Using communication editing tools and software.

What is required for this role

Education

– A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the position (such as communications, media studies, public relations, journalism, marketing, editing, translation or other acceptable specialization); or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Experience

– Significant* experience in developing and implementing communication products or services.

– Significant* experience in providing communications advice and formulated recommendations to management on communications issues.

– Significant* experience in writing and revising communications products (such as media lines, video scripts, social media and web content).

– Experience in planning and coordinating public events involving senior officials and multiple stakeholders.

– Experience in using communication editing tools and software.

*Note: Significant is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired over a period of two years.
