The Librarian, Research Services is a pivotal member of the Library Services team reporting to the Manager. The role is responsible for providing high-quality legal and business research and reference services and training to lawyers and students. This role may offer some hybrid flexibility


  • Provide timely and high quality legal and business research, analysis and reference services on complex matters to lawyers, students and staff;
  • Understand legal subject areas and available research tools in order to recommend resources;
  • Advise students and lawyers on technical research strategy and methodology;
  • Provide current awareness services by regularly monitoring legislation, case law and media and advising lawyers of relevant developments;
  • Collaborate with Library team, Research Lawyers and Directors of Professional Support and Legal Talent to develop and deliver innovative research instruction and training to lawyers and students;
  • Evaluate and recommend new research tools and resources;
  • Participate in the overall development and management of the library’s collection; and
  • Contribute to and actively participate in staff meetings, and attend professional learning and development events.

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science/Information Studies is required.
  • 3-5 years experience providing legal and business research services.
  • Ability to think critically and analytically in order to provide accurate, high-quality research services to lawyers and students.
  • Strong technical skills; familiarity with online legal, business and media research tools such as WestlawEdge, DisclosureNet, Bloomberg, and Eikon.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a professional team, managing the prioritization and completion of tasks in a timely and effective manner with minimal supervision.
  • Keen interest in learning and development.
  • Ability to adapt to the changing framework of library and information management services and practices.
