Position Description

This position provides leadership and direction for all aspects in the life cycle of the Fort Erie Public Library’s physical and digital collections. This includes physical materials, digital materials, and their associated budgets; as well as developing, assessing, recommending, and operationalizing FEPL’s collection management strategies in response to social, community, and industry trends. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of services related to the public’s use and access to the library’s information resources for the library system as a whole. The responsibilities include the provision of advisory and information services and collection management and development of the library’s collections. The position is responsible for evaluating information services functions and making recommendations to the CEO on matters related to information service operations at the three library branches.

Candidate requirements

As the ideal candidate for this position you will hold a Masters of Library and Information Science Degree and have one to two years of related experience with a sound knowledge of collection development, analysis and management. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and deliver professional information services to the public. The successful candidate will be required to work at any of the Fort Erie Public Library locations on a varied schedule which includes evenings and Saturdays. This is a full-time permanent, 35 hours per week, union position.
