Reporting to the Manager, Library Services, the Library Research Analyst opening involves working effectively as a part of a team as well as independently. The candidate will be an experienced information professional with law library experience, including providing legal research, legislative monitoring services, and training to lawyers and law students.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Providing timely, in-depth research and reference services for lawyers, students, and staff
  • Locating legal documents, case law, legislation, and secondary sources
  • Developing and delivering engaging training sessions on research methodologies and resources for students and lawyers
  • Monitoring federal, provincial, and territorial legislation for lawyers, practice groups, and clients, and demonstrating proficiency in the use of legislative tracking tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Completion of a library technology diploma or an MLIS degree
  • Several years of experience working in a law firm library or other legal research environment
  • Legal research and reference experience, including understanding research methodologies and using legal databases, including Westlaw and/or Lexis+ and print resources
  • Experience providing training to law students and lawyers
  • Strong understanding of the legislative process and the ability to monitor for changes to legislation

Working Conditions:

  • Three days per week, part-time position
  • Remote working environment
