About the Role:
Global News MMC/OTT is currently looking for two full-time Show Producer’s to join its team based out of our Toronto office. Reporting to the Supervising Producer of OTT & Multi-Market Content. Shifts will be varied and will include early mornings and afternoons on weekends, plus there may be some other shifts during the week.
This is a Group 4 position in the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by:
- Produce, line-up and write news broadcasts for various markets working with teams in various regions of Canada.
- Write, edit, and produce packaged and live segments.
- Participate in editorial discussions and meetings.
- Work with the Executive Producer, Supervising Producer and Anchor to determine editorial direction and content of newscasts.
- Work with Graphics teams to produce graphic elements to enhance storytelling and the overall look of the new broadcasts.
- Hours of work: Saturday and Sunday early mornings; varied.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in journalism, broadcasting or a related field.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in television broadcasting.
- The ability to respond quickly and knowledgeably to breaking news.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in television broadcasting.
- Strong news writing skills.
- Exemplary leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent news judgement.
- Life experience in, and knowledge of, various Canadian regions considered an asset.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to handle the demands and pressure of multiple broadcast deadlines.
- Ability to work well in a team setting.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, social media tools and technologies (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), and related applications.
- Familiarity with news video editing.
- Knowledge of Grass Valley editing software is an asset.
- Demonstrate excellent writing and other TV production skills.
- Demonstrate a high comfort level providing clear constructive feedback.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- An amazing, can-do attitude.
