Status: Full-Time, Temporary Contract (12-month)
Location: Toronto, ON – Don Mills (On-site)
About the Role:
Global Toronto is seeking a full-time, temporary (12-month) Digital broadcast Journalist to join the team. Reporting to the News Director, this role will be responsible for generating content for multiple platforms, primarily for Global News Morning and News at Noon.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working early mornings on a regular basis, as well as a range of other shifts as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
This position supports our multi-platform, digital-first strategy and contributes to our commitment to delivering news content 24/7.
This is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by:

- Initiating and developing story and feature ideas through contact development, research, and interviews.
- Writing, voicing, shooting, and editing news stories for broadcast and globalnews.ca while meeting multiple daily deadlines.
- Reporting live on-location and in-studio.
- Posting updates online as a story is being developed.
- Gathering and producing original content of local and / or national interest.
- Creatively using production graphics and other visual elements to enhance storytelling.
- Being a strong advocate, model and mentor for digital journalism and a digital-first workflow.
- Participating in Global Toronto promotional and community initiatives.
- Performing other duties as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in journalism, broadcasting, or a related field.
- An experienced Journalist capable of reporting and anchoring daily news and community events.
- Minimum five years of reporting/anchoring experience is required.
- Exceptional news writing, news delivery, and storytelling skills.
- Proven on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted material.
- Strong news judgment and editorial skills.
- Proven experience in diverse and inclusive storytelling.
- Proficient in creating, curating and developing content using digital operating systems for multiple platforms.
- Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows as well as show a willingness to learn new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operation.
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively collaborate in a team setting.
- Work well under pressure while meeting strict deadlines, possess a desire to be the best, and have a positive can-do attitude.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adjust to changing priorities and objectives.
- Valid G driver’s license with clear driving record.
