Position Description

The Electronic Resources Coordinator is a member of the Library’s professional team, reporting to the Associate University Librarian, Collection Services. The incumbent coordinates library-wide collection development and management of electronic resources, including acquisition, access, assessment, and record maintenance.

The Electronic Resources Coordinator represents the Library in finalizing consortial agreements for electronic resources, and in negotiations with vendors and publishers on pricing and other licensing issues.

This is a one-year full-time limited term appointment as Electronic Resources Coordinator.

Librarians are members of the Concordia University Faculty Association (CUFA).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates trials, purchases, and renewals for electronic resources; contacts vendors and resolves issues of licensing, pricing, and access.
  • Coordinates consortial purchases, renewals and trials of electronic resources, representing the Library as required at the Partenariat des bibliothèques universitaires du Québec (PBUQ), the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), and other consortia.
  • Reviews license agreements and compliance issues; maintains license files.
  • Works with other Collection Services librarians, staff and Systems to ensure timely acquisition and access to electronic resources, and the maintenance of up-to-date records for electronic resources in library systems.
  • Develops methods for the selection and evaluation of electronic products; analyzes electronic products and their usage statistics; maintains familiarity with major electronic resources acquired by the library.
  • Trains and coordinates the work of support staff, as required.
  • Participates on committees, working groups and project teams to contribute to the development of   Library and University strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A graduate degree from a library school accredited by the American Library Association, or approved equivalent education and training acceptable for membership in the Corporation of Professional Librarians of Québec.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in technical services operations, preferably in an academic or research library environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with licensing, acquisition and management of electronic resources, preferably in an academic or research library environment.
  • Experience with electronic resource management in an integrated library system or library services platform. Experience with OCLC WorldShare Management Services an asset.
  • Knowledge of academic electronic publishing, and relevant systems and technology.
  • Familiarity with current and emerging technologies and issues in access to electronic resources, including link resolvers, proxy servers and open access resources.

  • Oral and written fluency in English is essential. Oral fluency in French and basic written French is essential.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for an initial limited term appointment is $64,345.00 per annum. The position includes a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
