Description
The Librarian will be responsible for:
- Providing reference service in person and virtually
- Teaching research skills and information literacy
- Collection development in an assigned area
- Communication and marketing of library services and resources
- Liaising with faculty in assigned areas in regards to accessing and acquiring learning and curricular resources
- Developing online guides and learning objects
- Active participation in the College’s learner centered environment while promoting excellence in library services and resources; participating in projects beyond the library and in collaboration with the professional and local communities
The following is required for successful employment as a member of the Library team:
- Demonstrated commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning
- Demonstrated knowledge of electronic, print and media resources appropriate for a comprehensive community college
- Experienced in providing reference service in person and virtually
- Experienced in creating instructional and research materials in a variety of formats including LibGuides
- Have instructional experience, demonstrating the ability to teach a diversity of subjects, at various levels, in a range of learning environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogy, including the ability to adapt instruction to student needs
- Demonstrated knowledge of a range of library and educational technologies including institutional repositories, integrated library systems, discovery systems and learning management systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of the full lifecycle of electronic resources, from acquisition and access to troubleshooting and assessment
- Knowledgeable about scholarly communication including copyright, open education resources, and open access publishing
- Commitment to current and trending philosophies, practices and advancements
- Adherence to, and compliance with teaching related policies, procedures and protocols
- A consistent demonstration of excellence and respect in verbal and written communication
- An ability to contribute to and cultivate collegial and collaborative work relationships
- Comfort and proficiency with educational technology and MS
- Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel
- Capable of thriving in a BC post-secondary education setting that’s welcoming and relevant to Indigenous learners and helping to prepare non-Indigenous students, graduates and employees to better understand, live alongside of, and work with Indigenous peoples
