About the Role:

The Resource Sharing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating interlibrary loan (ILL) workflows for the borrowing and lending of physical and electronic document delivery and oversees the work of Library Assistants in carrying out their ILL responsibilities.  The position serves as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and training team members on using Alma and other software platforms that supplement resource sharing services. In addition, the Resource Sharing Coordinator, provides circulation, basic copying and printing services, and reference assistance to users at the Ask Us Desk and is also a member of the library’s group of Reference Assistants who provide in-depth research help to students.

The Resource Sharing Coordinator will: 

– Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the library’s resource sharing service and support the daily work of the interlibrary loan and resource sharing team;
– Perform diverse and/or complex interlibrary loan and document delivery duties requiring detailed knowledge of procedures and policies;
– Create and contribute to policy manuals and training materials, including drafting policies and procedures;
– Suggest improvements and/or efficiencies for workflows and service delivery;
– Represent the library in relevant consortial groups;
– Report technical issues to Systems & Technologies department, consortial leads and groups, and/or vender support services where appropriate;
– Keep up to date with new and emerging interlibrary loan and library software;
– Maintain and update patron system records accurately, including collecting payments, creating temporary user accounts for visitors, and recording user interactions;
– Provide in-depth research help in-person and remotely;
– Instruct library users in using library collections, online catalogue, databases, Internet resources, and how to formulate search terms.

Please note this position may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends depending on operational needs.

Key Skills and Experience:

– Undergraduate degree in a relevant field or the equivalent combination of education and library related work experience;
– Demonstrated leadership skills and experience, fostering a collaborative working environment;
– Strong time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize work and establish priorities;
– Demonstrated initiative, seeking out efficient workflows and procedures;
– Knowledge of and adherence to library and departmental policies, procedures, and best practices;
– Ability to identify and consider how ILL workflows may impact or intersect with other service workflows within the department;
– Familiarity and comfort using a variety of software platforms;
– Reference interview skills and detailed knowledge of standard reference tools;
– Strong customer service, communication (oral and written), interpersonal skills and active listening;
– Flexibility and sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse user population;
– Familiarity of Library of Congress, Music, and Documents classification systems;
– Ability to keep pace with the changing information environment;
– Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community.

Preferred or Asset Skills: 

– Two-year Library Technicians diploma;
– Experience using Alma, Worldshare, RapidILL, Microsoft Office, etc.

Salary and Total Rewards: 

– Job Grade K, Salary Scale ($57,400-$98,400);
– Target Hiring Range: $57,400-$60,000;
– This is a permanent position that includes:

*The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
