TITLE: Library Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW: We are looking for a full-time, permanent Library Manager to oversee daily library operations. The Library Manager will provide oversight and support for library services related to circulation, information literacy, research help, liaising with faculty, cataloguing, as well as database management. The position will report to the Dean of Arts and Science.

Alexander College is a private post-secondary institution serving approximately 4,000 students every year. REQUIREMENTS

  • Master of Library and Information Services (MLIS), or equivalent, from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Experience working in an academic library, preferably with supervisory or management experience
  • Experience working with international students desired
  • Familiarity with BC post-secondary library partners (for example, BC ELN) and trends in library services
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork and communication skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, coordinate and support library staff including campus librarians, library technicians, and student workers
  • Administrative work as required, including assessment and reporting on library services, scheduling of library staff, and additional duties as required by the Dean of Arts and Science
  • Systems responsibilities including administration of the AC ILS (Sitka Evergreen), database access management (EZProxy) and search layer (EBSCO EDS)
  • Guide campus librarians in the provision of library services related to information literacy and research support services and collection assessment and development
  • Assist with management of the physical space, liaising with Operations and IT as needed to ensure a safe and supportive environment
  • Provide support and oversight for additional areas of library work including facilitation of Course Archives, student ID card creation, inter-library loans, and liaising with Alexander Academy and Brighton College

Schedule: 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate: Burnaby, BC V5H 4T6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education: Master’s Degree (required)

Experience: supervisory or management: 1 year (preferred)
